Before and After

Our poor fridge is decimated by the end of the week. Between us we manage to go through a gallon of milk, 1 1/2 - 2 loaves of bread, a dozen eggs, a container of salad, lots of veggies, 2 bunches of bananas, a large container of yogurt, a couple of small bags of frozen berries...well you get the point. Lots of eating going on in our house!

Photography Class

In preparation for baby's arrival, I decided that I had to get the SLR that I had been wanting, and that I was going to learn how to really use it. So, I would highly recommend doing what I did, and signing up for a class at your local community college. Best $95.00 I've spent in a long time!

Unfortunately for the dogs, I'm in their faces a lot now! Dodger can be a bit camera shy. He'll be laying there looking so cute, and I'll get down in front of him with the camera, and he peaces out. Patton on the other hand, enjoys mugging for the camera. Mugging is an appropriate word, because the faces he makes look like a little dog criminal's mug shots to me!

Baby Lily

I wasn't going to talk about our pregnancy on the blog, but I've held out for so long and now I can't contain it! If you are wondering why, it is because I really don't want my mother to know everything that is going on in our lives. Hopefully she hasn't found this blog, but if she has, I did enable the comment moderation. I don't want to hash it out here, but if you don't know our family background and you are curious, I am perfectly fine talking about it.

So...for those of you who haven't heard, Phil and I are expecting our sweet baby Lillian Caroline this August. I can't believe that she'll be arriving in just four months. On one hand it seems like it is forever away, and on the other I feel like my pregnancy is going by so fast. Each day I fall a little more in love with her baby kicks. It is amazing how much you can love someone you have never met. I think the only two things I hear out of Phil's mouth anymore are "She's going to be so spoiled!" (meaning by him of course) and "My babeeeeeey Lillllllly!" or some take on her name, whether it is singing Sweet Caroline with Lily thrown in there or some other song. I don't think there is any stopping her from being a daddy's girl.

Spring Blooms

I love this time of the year, because all of the azaleas and roses start blooming in our neighborhood, the purple verbena blooms, and the tulips come up (although ours are pretty much spent.) We don't really do anything with our yard in the winter, so in the spring we go from no color, to color everywhere! I love it. Here are a few pictures from our yard this spring.

Cake Show

My friend Ginger is a baker extraordinaire. She is in pastry chef school and makes cakes on the side for friends and family. I have indulged in many of her tasty treats! A couple of weeks ago I tagged along with Ginger to a cake show in Austin. The show features a competition with various categories (culinary student (like Ginger), beginner, intermediate, advanced, professional, and a tasting competition as well.) There were some amazing cakes there, and I haven't uploaded them all yet, but I will post a few that I have online already.
Shout out to my dad and his two Harley's. ;)

Oh the places we'll go...

If you have dogs, you've more than likely caught them in funny places. Patton has an obsession with Phil. If Phil leaves for a bike ride, Patton will go check the window multiple times and cry for him. I guess I'm not a good enough companion for him. When Phil studies, Patton will stare at him, and yes, cry for attention. He's very needy. So I wasn't surprised when I walked in on Phil studying and found this: (excuse the shirt off, Phil thinks our house is a nudist colony)
Then a few days later, for some reason he was studying on the dining room floor, and I find this:

I know I'm not the only one living with furry sun worshipers. Our dogs follow the sun across the living room all day long, making sure they are always in the patch of sunlight. Lately it has been nice enough that they will take their sunbathing outside. Patton decided that he would even take it up to our pool floats that are stored on the poolside bench. It caught my attention because poor Dodger was crying, and it took me a few minutes to figure out what he wanted. He wanted up there too, but the leaf basket thing was in his way, and Patton was too. So outside I go to take off the leaf thingy, and get Patton to hop off. Dodger hops up, Patton gets back on, and everyone is happy.
