Breakfast at Wimbledon

Phil and I have a little tradition (if you can call something that you do 2 years in a row a tradition) of staying home on Sunday morning of the men's Wimbledon finals, making a good breakfast (or having your father in law make it for you) and watching the match. Last year we were rooting for our boy Roger Federer, and unfortunately he lost to the slimy Spaniard Rafael Nadal. This year Roger was once again in the finals, and so was Andy Roddick. We really thought poor Andy didn't stand much of a chance against Roger, who had an 18-2 record against our fellow American going into the match. But Andy kicked off with aces right and left, and won the first set, and we were very impressed. You couldn't help but root for the guy. I thought he might pull it off, until halfway through when Phil hit the wrong button on the tivo and there was Roger, standing with the trophy and a very triumphant smile on his face. Yes, somehow the tivo went straight to the end of the recording. I was really nice about it too. I think I said something to Phil like "you ruined Breakfast at Wimbledon!" while giving him my best evil eye. I did my best to continue watching, but it was a little sad knowing that all of Andy's winning games and sets would end in a loss. So, hats off to Roger Federer on his big win, and here's to next year's Breakfast at Wimbledon and an improvement in remote handling skills by my darling husband! I know, I know, it was all the tivo's fault...

Ok, I am a HUGE tennis fan and watched almost every match of Wimbledon this year and every.single.moment. of the final. I honestly do love Federer, but I have to completely disagree with you about Nadal! I LOVE him. I don't think he is slimy at all!! He is a wonderful player, so young, so good, and a really good guy. I was SO excited to see him beat Federer last year. Federer is going to go down in history as probably the greatest the sport has known. And rightfully so, he is fantastic. But I was SO excited to see Nadal play him so well and for someone to FINALLY give him a run for his money. Rafa is a fantastic player and I hope he gets healthy so we see some good competition once again.

As for this years Wimbledon...I was hardcore pulling for Andy. Federer is a beast and will definitely be back in the Wimbledon finals probably for years to come. This was Andy's chance and I was hoping he would pull it out. At least they gave us a phenominal match...unlike the women's finals....UGH!

I'm glad to know you and Phil had breakfast at WImbledon too! I was hoping we weren't the only 20-somethings boring enough to watch tennis! ha!
