Panic

I've never had a panic attack, but how I felt last night was probably close. I let Dodger out to go potty, like we do every night, and went to put up some laundry before letting him back in. When I went back out, the gate was partially open and I didn't see him. My stomach dropped and I ran into the front yard, where I see him between our house and our neighbors. Of course when I call him, he takes off between the houses. Now I'm really getting scared, it is 10:00 at night, dark, I can't exactly run like I used to, and Phil is in the house getting ready for bed. I follow him but by the time I reach the alley he is nowhere to be seen. I start screaming his name hysterically but he is like Toucan Sam and was probably following his hound nose on some sort of scent trail. I run back between the houses, into our house, yell to Phil, grab my keys, back out the car, and drive off. Luckily, I found him one street over, he runs to me and jumps in the back of the car. Huge sigh of relief, lots of "don't ever do that to me again you naughty beast" and lots of trouble falling asleep after that! Fortunately he is now safe and sound, probably lounging on one of our couches that he isn't supposed to be on while we're at work.

Oh my gosh! Bless your heart! That would send me into orbit too! Rookie got out from my parent's house once and I was in full on panic mode too. Found him about 1/4 of a mile away just feelin' home free. I beat his little puppy butt and threatened him within an inch of his puppy life if he ever decided to do that again!!

So glad you found him!!

Bad Dodgy! That is a terrible feeling. Glad he's safe and sound now -- I've seen the panic, not fun for you!

I'm glad that you found him. Jack has snuck off a few times himself. Luckily, the nice people in the neighborhood call our number on his tag.
